What this site knows about you
What this site knows about you amounts to very little, and nothing you have to tell it. There is no account to make, no form to fill in, and no newsletter to escape from.
Who runs this site
saltash.website is an independent guide to the town, built and hosted by Mausti.Net. It is not the town council's site and not run by any of the organisations it writes about. If you want to ask about anything here, including this page, email enquiries@saltash.website.
What we ask you for: nothing
There are no accounts, no logins and no forms on this site. The contact page opens your own email program rather than posting a message through a server here, so anything you send arrives as an ordinary email — and stays in that mailbox. We do not have a mailing list to add you to.
Analytics, only if you say so
We would like to use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages get read. It records the page you are on, roughly where in the world you are, and what browser and device you use, and it stores cookies to tell one visit from another. It does not tell us who you are, and we never try to find out.
It does not run unless you allow it. Nothing is loaded and no request reaches Google until you say yes, and if you say no — or change your mind later — the tracking is switched off and its cookies are deleted from your browser.

The town's previous website used the older Universal Analytics, which Google shut down in July 2023. Nothing from it carried over here.
Whatever you choose, a tracker-blocking extension or your browser's built-in blocking will stop this and every other site's analytics. Google's own account of what it collects is in their privacy policy ↗.
Other companies your browser talks to
Loading any page means your browser fetches things, and some of them come from elsewhere. Those companies can see your IP address and roughly what you asked for, in the same way any web server can:
- Google Fonts — the typefaces the site is set in are served from Google's font servers on every page.
- CARTO — the map's background imagery is fetched from CARTO's tile servers, but only on the map page. Everywhere else, no map tiles are requested. The map data itself is OpenStreetMap's.
- Mausti.Net — the events calendar is read live from our own server. That is us, not a third party.
The landmark photographs are copied into this site and served from here, rather than hotlinked, so viewing them tells nobody else what you looked at. Links out to other sites — schools, the council, the museum — are ordinary links, and once you follow one you are on their site under their rules.
Server logs
Like every web server, ours records requests as they come in — the page, the time, the IP address, the browser. These logs exist to keep the site running and to spot abuse. They are not used to build a picture of you, and they are not sold or handed to anyone.
Your rights
UK data protection law gives you the right to ask what data an organisation holds about you, and to ask for it to be deleted. Since this site holds nothing that identifies you, there is unlikely to be anything to hand over — but if you want to ask, email enquiries@saltash.website and you will get a straight answer.
